Oakland, Ca – February 1, 2020

The 2020 Monster Energy Supercross series made its way to Oakland, Ca last weekend for round 5.  This was the SX Futures round last year where 450SX team rider Jimmy Weeks earned his professional License.

450SX

Jimmy Weeks held down the fort in the 450SX class for the team in Oakland.  He qualified 29th out of the gate despite fighting with his bike all day.  Weeks rode to an impressive 12th in his heat but additional bike challenges kept him from finishing the LCQ and ended his night early.  Dylan Merriam is on the fast track of recovery and is looking forward to picking up where he left of and making his first main of the year.

250SX

Corbin Hayes didn’t race in Oakland, but was on hand to talk to fans and sign some autographs.  Blaine Silveira squeaked into the night show with a 38th place qualifying lap time.  He struggled a bit during the night show and experienced a few first lap crashes.  Silveira remained positive through it all and knows what he needs to work on to continue to grow in the class.  Look for big things from him in San Diego this weekend.  Transport rider, Taiki Koga made his FIRST Main Event of the year – after pulling out a 9th qualifying position during Heat 1.  Koga grabbed 5 points for his finish and sits 26th currently in the series standings.
