The 47th Season of Supercross launched this past weekend at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA. This coveted race series is home to the sport’s most elite athletes (backed by amazing teams/sponsors); each with the intention of winning races and the #1 plate after 17 brutal rounds.
To some, it seems like we just closed the door on the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series, to others; like Team owner Ted Parks the gate drop at A1 couldn’t have come quick enough. To say Ted loves racing and loves privateers would be an understatement; that mans eats, sleeps and breathes racing and does everything in his power to ensure each TPJ Team member has the tools needed to succeed.
450SX
The first round of qualifying is out of the way for our 450SX riders as each one rode well and secured good gate picks in the heat races. Unfortunately, heat race finishes put all three riders, Weeks, Merriam and Politelli in the LCQ where they finished 21st, 17th and 9th respectively (only the top 4 finishes moved on to the Main Event).
250SX
Blaine Silveira was slated to race this past weekend, but an injury in late November and urgent surgery will delay his 2020 Supercross debut. We hope to have him back and ready to race by round 3 in Anaheim. Corbin Hayes, who joined the TPJ Racing team for the Outdoors season last year, returned full time to the team. Forty-eight total 250 riders tried to qualify Saturday and Corbin finished 41st with a best lap time of 1:05.687.
Every rider has a common goal of making the Main Event, and our team is no different; each learned some valuable lessons at the opening round and will work even harder next week in St. Louis to achieve that goal.
